Identity in a Box

If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?

When I was young, bad happened to me that was not my fault. I grew up believing that I was pretty much worthless. I also have more than one visible disability. If someone had asked me what I thought of myself, I would have said, “Stupid, ugly, clumsy, slow, insert curse words, unwanted, etcetera.” I heard those words often. I knew who Jesus was, but He wasn’t on the throne of my life. I was too busy having a pity party for myself and hanging on to my victim role to realize that sad and used was not the identity God meant for me.

As an adult, a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit changed my life, my outlook, and my vocabulary. Now, if someone asks me to describe myself, I say what God thinks of me instead,  which is true, “Beautiful, righteous, perfectly made, able, loved, wanted, a daughter of the King.”

A daughter of the King. This is my true identity. Sword, cape, and crown of life present, invisible and invincible.

Everyone needs to know what God believes about him, what God loves about her.

My shop would help to change identities by offering self esteem gift boxes for all ages and genders with multiple positive word cards, Bible verses with truth to back them up, many self treats like teas, candles, bath gels, and ceramic figurines to mix and match with choices to make the recipient understand that he or she is important and is loved by the sender or giver, and most importantly, loved by God.
