A Real Good Man

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and He delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23

Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

I’m here today to interview three former and much honored presidents, Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman, and Ronald Reagan. I intend to ask them each important questions.

Me: “Good morning, Gentlemen.”

Lincoln, Truman, Reagan: “Morning Ma’am.”

Me: “Gentlemen, Thank you so much for making the journey. I am very concerned about the future of our country. I’m having trouble finding leaders, real, good, Godly men. I hope in your wisdom you can put my mind at ease and help with my search by answering a few questions. You have all had to face difficult challenges. Let’s start with you, Mr. Lincoln. What do you think makes a great leader and a good man?”

Mr. Lincoln: ” A leader is an honest man. If a man is not a man of his word, upon what can he stand?

A good man loves his wife no matter what. He is 100% married, not riding the fence getting splinters in his backside. He acts out daily his vows to love, honor, and cherish.”

Me: “Thank you, Mr. Lincoln. Do you agree Mr. Truman?”

Mr. Truman: “Absolutely, I would add that a real man makes tough choices and doesn’t back down from the right way. He doesn’t leave the decision to those around him.

A real man stays. He would never emotionally  blow up a family and run away. A real man is not selfish. He has the heart of a champion and the heart of a servant.”

Me: “Thank you, Mr. Truman. Mr. Reagan, what makes a man a great leader?”

Mr. Reagan: “A great leader accounts for every dollar and makes every dollar count. Though he may have much, he knows the difference between wants and needs. As he is careful with his spending, so he is careful and accountable with his actions and a trustworthy leader and friend.”

Me: “This accountable man, I see he cares for things. What about people?”

Mr. Reagan: “A real man defends those he loves at all costs. He tears down walls of his own prejudices. He gives up things he loves for the good of others. He seeks help from God and the counsel of other good men. He forgets his own pride and listens to grow wise.”

Me: “Thank you so much, Mr. Reagan. Wow, Gentlemen, you have really given me so much to think about as I continue to look around our country for leaders, for real, good, Godly men.”
