Stand

Do you see yourself as a leader?

The world sees leaders as people who are trustworthy, accountable, and self-aware who have visions and great communication skills. These creative people can encourage and empower others to use their thinking, materials, and skills to work together to find solutions to problems. Teachers like me lead every day.

Never underestimate what God thinks you can do. I was just a teacher…. but then life flipped upside down.

The time I had to take a stand wasn’t in the classroom. It was in the courtroom. I looked like a leader while I told the truth only I knew, even though I was shaking inside. I had received a call in my classroom in the middle of class. My baby granddaughter was murdered.

I was called to testify for her because she cannot speak for herself. Every word mattered. It could mean justice or none. Did I feel like a leader then? No. I only wanted people to know the child I knew, the little girl the murderers took from me. Thank God that He stood with me and helped me not to fall, that He let my mouth work and sound come out. The people could see that my granddaughter was a person. Our family still waits for justice. We may never have it in this world, but God knows the whole truth. He has always known.
