What are your favorite types of foods?
My favorite foods grow. They live. People in Bible times ate them and lived full happy lives before chemical intervention. I like wild caught fish but not just anything in the water. Some critters like shrimp are bottom feeders, the garbage pail of the ocean. Slimies like eels have no scales. So, they are no good either.
I bake with farmer raised duck eggs with no NDMA when I can get them. I mainly eat root vegetables and greens every day.
I also enjoy the flavor and proteins in tree nuts: almond, brazil, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, pinenut, walnut, and pistachio. Dates, figs, and olives are tree nuts. A peanut is not a tree nut and is prone to mold. Yucko.
I have celiac disease, so I steer away from nightshade vegetables like potato and eggplant and all peppers and grains. I will cook these often for company and share the recipes, but I never partake.
I also do not eat fruit. Tomato and avocado are fruits. I opt instead for a sweet potato or yam. I really am not used to sugar anymore. I prefer the flavors of onion, celery, ginger, tumeric, beets, fennel, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, gensing, chive, sage, carrot, and thyme. I like to eat work with fermented foods in cooking: daikon, bok choy, turnips, and water chestnuts. I had high blood sugar and high blood pressure and medicine. Now, I learned. I am healthy. Good numbers, no meds.
This seems limiting, maybe. Now I feel better than I have ever felt in my life. Of those nuts and vegetables, I can eat as much as I need.
Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said my Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years (KJV).
I claim a long life. I need to be healthy to live it. Good health is the best gift I can give myself.
