What is your favorite form of physical exercise?
My favorite calorie burner is cooking. I cook standing up unless I am worn out. If you weigh less, you burn less calories. I weigh more. I burn more, but I am within 10 pounds of my goal, finally, after years of failed diets and plans. Healthy eating works.
Do I think about calories while I’m cooking? No, I dance to my music and enjoy myself in my own space. 30 minutes dancing, 170 calories.
Light cooking for a meal, 150 calories. Set and clear the table, serve the food, pour the drinks, 180 calories. Heavy cooking, large meal, 500 calories.
The average person burns 2800 calories a month cooking. I don’t use a microwave or dishwasher or plastic in my kitchen. I buy most foods live and whole. I cook from scratch and take my time. So, I do a lot of chopping, cleaning, and preparing. I do not like to put box food or take-out food in my body. I get lots of kitchen exercise.
I enjoy food as close to raw and nature as I can get it. I try new foods and flavors as often as I can. This week, I made vegan enchiladas with every part fresh. They were amazing.
Walking and shopping in freedom was a joy. Chopping the onions, peppers, potatoes and other ingredients was work, but the flavor rewards were so worthwhile.
I burned more calories cleaning up, and had leftovers for two nights. Wash dishes by hand, 190 calories. Mop the kitchen, 150 calories. It’s no wonder that I have lost 90 pounds this year with a healthier diet, conscious effort to taking better care of myself, and more physical activity. I plan to post the enchilada recipe as a page soon.
