What does it mean to be a kid at heart?
Being a “kid” at heart doesn’t mean forgetting adult responsibilities. If someone describes a person is a “kid” at heart, he or she likely means that the adult “kid” seizes the moment when there is a chance for joy or freedom.
The grown “kid” never forgets how to play, and the “kid” sees games or fun in ordinary activities. The older but wiser “kid” values his or her great sense of curiosity and likes to explore the world’s parts, big and small. This mature “kid” lives in the adult world, but is still willing to suspend his or her sense of belief to see make-believe. This awesome, empathetic, reflective individual laughs with the world and hears the world’s music without criticism. He or she doesn’t constantly cram beautiful things or people in their proper, sensible places. “Kids” at heart comfortably accept the unacceptable eccentricities of unique people. “Kids” have the ability to call unique, eccentric people friends.
