Gifting Wisdom

What book are you reading right now?

Time learning, turning pages, burning pictures imaginated to my brain, this I love.

I’m reading three books. I’m rereading the last book in light of the holidays, forgiveness and the Tabernacle, and the Bible’s timeline. I also want to know more about what the Bible says of emotions, vegetable fermentation, and gut health.

Anderson, S. C., Cryan, J. F., Dinan, T. (2017). The Psychobiotic Revolution: Mood, Food, and the New Science of the Gut-Brain Connection. United States: National Geographic Society.

The authors agree that grief, depression, and holding a grudge negatively affect gut microbiome and cause intestinal issues. They also agree that correct eating and fixing gut microbiome can lead to good, healthy emotions. Improving gut health lifts depression and grief. It leads to positive emotional growth.

Bevere, L. (2014). Girls With Swords: How to Carry Your Cross Like a Hero. United States: Crown Publishing Group.

The author states that God means for women to know their identities. He created women as powerful beings, but this world and evil take power away. Bevere writes that every woman’s sword, her God-given strength, is under daily attack. She uses Bible verses and imagery of swords and battles to explain how women are meant to: speak aloud Heaven’s language on earth, to intercede in prayer, to wield discernment like a sword, to render the evil one powerless, and not to be a target…but a hero of God instead.

Teitelbaum, D. E. (n.d.) Neat Jewish Stuff for Christians:Seeing Jesus Through Ancient Hebrew Eyes. (n.p.): Xulon Press, Incorporated.

The author explains plainly the meaning of each Jewish celebration and holy day. He also elegantly relates each piece, part, person, and purpose of the tabernacle to the mission of Jesus. This was so interesting that I reread it several times before moving on in the book. Teitelbaum also explains the timeline of the Bible in a clear manner I have not seen before this short but very educational book. Next year when I donate books to Friends of the Library, I will keep these three notated, highlighted books to reread. I hope to use this wisdom to help.
