Master Artist

Gerbera Daisies

What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

In April, the Master Artist shows us hope. He paints the colorful, mind-renewing gift of blooming flowers. Sweet William or Dianthus’ pink or white fringed petals prove His artistry. They teach us His touching hand is here with us, active in this moment. Single-flower double bloomers, their fringed petals dance in the breeze with worshipful joy.

Sweet alyssum, the carpet flower, with its delicate, tiny buds and sweet aroma teach us that He cares for small things, even where we place our feet. He makes a soft place to land. He protects us from the hard ground below.

Geraniums bright red, white, and pink in trailing ivy arms mimic His loving arms enfolding us. The flower’s call to hummingbirds and butterflies teaches that we are connected, that we need each other and Someone Greater than ourselves. The geranium’s showy nature teaches us that it’s okay to dance like David before the Lord and be glad in it and unashamed.

The Master Artist paints the many colors of  Petunias, standing side by side in the same soil. He shows us that all colors from His brush are beautiful. We wait for blooms just as we wait to bloom. Like these flowers, we put on our show in the day and tuck in to His rest in the dark.

The Gerbera Daisy or Drakensburg wakes up the loudest to praise Him in full sun, standing tall on its single stem, singing hallelujah to the Gardener who paints in living color. Hallelujah to the One who touches every seed with joy to make life. All flowers join in the singing, and the earth is alive with arms lifted, dancing in praise to the Master Artist.
