$500,000 Gifts

If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

I would give away the first half million as a tithe to my son’s brand new church, to release the congregation from debt, to help build a soup kitchen, to add to the bus ministry, and to begin to build a battered women’s shelter.

The second half million would go to the foundation helping me to get my hearing aids. In this state, Medicaid only covers one hearing aid at a time. They can only be replaced every five years. Purchase, repair, and replacement costs have limits. No rehab. services, auditory training, speech reading, or American Sign Language classes are covered. If I were a child, I could get classes and services through the school system for free. In my city, nothing is free. Ladies in my church sign for the service. Because of them, I have hope.

I don’t want others who need services to have times of hopelessness or isolation. I wish I had ten times the money. I would open a school for job training for adults with disabilities and show those city people how to budget and use money for something that matters.
